Shopping For A Vacuum Cleaner

The One Stop Shop for Vacuums, Bags, Belts, etc.

When shopping for a new vacuum cleaner you want to buy a high quality vacuum cleaner and save money too.

Once you feel fully informed, if you can, go to a local store to get a look at those you've picked and try them out.  Make sure the vacuum feels comfortable.

Do you want an upright or cannister?  Many people find they don't like to bend over to move the vacuum around so prefer an upright over a cannister.

Check the height of fully assembled attachments to make sure that you won't be bending over or holding your arm up to use them.

Try assembling and taking apart the attachments before you buy.  Make sure they're easy to put together and take apart and that they stay together and are airtight.

You'll need to decide whether you want a bag or a bagless vacuum.  A bagless vacuum may leak dust, dust mites, mold spores, fungus, bacteria and allergen particles into the air, so small you may not be able to see all of them but will be cheaper though in the long run, because you're not buying and using up bags.

A vacuum with a bag will keep the air you breathe free of dust, allergens, pollen, smoke particles, and other chemicals and pollutants found in household air, IF it doesn't get clogged.  You'll need to change bags frequently to cut down on this possibility. It'll also cost more because you'll be buying bags ongoing.

It's better in my opinion as a nurse, to get a vacuum with a good filtration system and protect your lungs and overall health.

Off course you want to get the cleanest possible ''clean' for your carpets.  You want to get rid of as much dirt, dust, mold spores, fungus, bacteria, dust mites and allergens as possible.

Always check and see how long the warranty is good for.  The longer the better of course. Read the fine print so you know what is covered in the event it's defective or you need it repaired. Some may or may not cover either parts or labor.

A best quality vacuum cleaner is an excellent investment in your home and in your home cleaning equipment.   A vacuum should last for many years with proper care. You can save a lot of money by doing your research.  Read vacuum cleaner ratings.  Read vacuum cleaner reviews. Comparison shop before you buy. Read how vacuum cleaners rank and compare to others. Make sure you check the warranty. Make sure you add on replacement bags to your initial investment if they are required.  Don't be totally dazzled by a complete array of attachments. Know that you're getting the best vacuum cleaner for your money. There have been a lot of advances in vacuum cleaners over the years so it's hard to buy one that's bad or you'd be unhappy with.
